Meijo University Celebrates a Century of Pride and 1st Decade of Foreign Studies

Meijo University commemorates 100 years of academic innovation and community leadership.

The year 2026 marks a historic milestone for Meijo University as we celebrate 100 years of educational excellence since our founding in 1926. To mark this grand centenary, the university officially unveiled its vibrant new mascot, Meijo Shishimaru—a brave, curious lion cub wearing Nagoya’s iconic shachihoko on his head, symbolising campus exploration, courage, and pride.

Introducing Meijo Shishimaru, the university's official centenary lion mascot. Alongside major centenary developments like the newly constructed LIONS ARENA, the Faculty of Foreign Studies (FFS) reaches a proud landmark of its own: its 10th anniversary! Founded in 2016 at the Nagoya Dome Mae Campus, FFS has spent the past decade shaping agile global communicators, fostering cross-cultural diplomacy, and integrating innovative technology into language learning.
