"Wheel of Names" and "Wordwheel" are great randomizers for any lesson
The Wheel of Names is a gerat little piece of the interweb that lets anyone enter a list of anything and randomly select a winner.
I love this bit of tech and can use it for hekping me choose a student in class, or the order of something to be done in or simply to make a decision.

Another similar beauty is Wordwall which is another spinnner tool that has loads of questions and more extensive ways of creating a randomizer and making fun lessons.
CHeck them out here
These are tools that work great online as well as in the class.
We can even ask students to make their own for a whole range of topics and classes.

ReplyDeleteA fake email address, commonly called a temporary or disposable email address, can be useful when you do not want to reveal your primary inbox. Users may choose one for temporary registrations, testing purposes, or receiving a verification message. For important accounts and sensitive communication, however, a permanent email address is usually more appropriate.

ReplyDeleteA temporary mailbox acts as a separate inbox for receiving emails for a limited period. It is useful when you need to complete an online task but do not want to use your personal email. Temporary mailboxes can make it easier to manage one-time registrations and verification messages.
ReplyDeleteI found the discussion of argumentation, logical fallacies, emotional appeals, and spin-doctoring particularly interesting because these topics show how the way an argument is presented can influence how people understand and respond to an issue. The examples involving fear appeals, strongman arguments, rage bait, stereotypes, conspiracy-based reasoning, and different types of fallacies also seem especially useful for classroom discussion because they can be connected to real-world communication and media examples.
ReplyDeleteFor teaching or group activities, it could be interesting to turn some of these concepts into interactive exercises. For example, students could be given different fallacies or argumentation techniques and then asked to explain, identify, or create an example of each one. A random wheel could be used to randomly assign topics, fallacies, debate positions, or examples to students, making the activity less predictable while keeping everyone involved. It could also work well when dividing a class into groups for discussions or presentations.
I think activities like this could make a topic such as argumentation ethics easier to explore because students would have to apply the concepts rather than only memorize definitions. It would also encourage them to think more carefully about how persuasion, emotion, reasoning, and ethical standards interact in political communication, journalism, and everyday discussions.
I like how Wheel of Names and WordWheel can add variety and interaction to classroom activities. Random selection is especially useful for encouraging participation without putting the same students in the spotlight every time. Teachers can also use Spin the Wheel to create customized wheels for vocabulary practice, discussion questions, student selection, and quick review activities.
ReplyDeleteI found this post particularly useful because it shows how Wheel of Names and WordWheel can be applied in practical teaching situations rather than simply being used as novelty tools. Both resources offer interesting possibilities for language activities, especially when teachers want students to work with vocabulary, generate ideas, or participate in quick classroom challenges. The random element of a wheel can also make activities feel less predictable while encouraging students to respond spontaneously. I can see these tools being especially useful for warm-ups, revision, speaking activities, and vocabulary reinforcement. For teachers interested in exploring another wheel-based resource, Spin the Wheel Today could also provide additional ideas for creating interactive activities. Thanks for highlighting these practical ways to bring simple digital tools into the classroom.

ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of using both Wheel of Names and WordWheel in the classroom. Adding a random element can make even simple vocabulary activities more engaging, because students never quite know what name or word will come up next. It also seems like a useful way to get more students involved instead of always relying on the same volunteers.
ReplyDeleteI’ve also been experimenting with SpinTheWheelz for similar activities. It allows you to create a custom wheel with names, words, questions, or different classroom tasks, so it can be adapted quite easily depending on the lesson. I can definitely see how this kind of simple tool could add a bit more energy to everyday classroom activities.

Another useful option is this online random name picker, which lets users add names or choices and spin a wheel to select an option. It can be useful for classroom games, group discussions, and other activities where a little randomness makes things more engaging.
ReplyDeleteLas actividades creativas son una excelente forma de aprender mientras los estudiantes se divierten. Me gusta la idea de utilizar palabras al azar para inventar historias y poemas diferentes. Explorar distintos tipos de letras para escribir también puede ayudar a presentar sus trabajos de una manera original y personal. ¡Muy buena propuesta!
